Iedereen beroemd is a television program on the cable network Één.

Belgian Television is writing a new Wikipedia article every week

edit

The Belgian Television is broadcasting since August 2017 a weekly program about how new Wikipedia articles are written. Every week a new article is created. This way the man-in-the-street learns how Wikipedia is written by volunteers. Once the initial version of the article is publised other Wikipedians are further contributing and amending the articles.

Drawback: since the television program is watched by more than 1 million people of all kinds[1] there is more vandalism; once an article was restricted to be updated by registered users only.

The journalist actively shows how he is gathering information about the subject, and how the article is structured. He interviews people that know about the subject. A nice photograph is published as well. References are added. Diverse cultural and historical subjects are covered.

This is a nice initiative. It actively documents how people can contribute to Wikipedia.

Every week on Tuesday evening at VRT 1, program "Iedereen beroemd, Pagina niet gevonden", around 19:55.
