Rebranding Strategy

Since 2015 a rebranding strategy started as a proposal to rename the Wikimedia organisation and community into Wikipedia (something).

Risks

This is not necessarily a good idea, and can lead to:

• a lot (more) confusion
• legal exposure

Process

• 2019: initial idea
• 2020: review and decision
• ?: Opt-in for the Affiliates

Marketing

It is a good point to give more attention to Wikipedia, and to consider other applications like Wikimedia Commons, Wikibase, and Wikidata as modules.
