State of the Map/2016
Short report about attendance at OpenStreetMap 23-25 September 2016
editGeertivp (talk) has attended the September 2016 OSM Conference in Brussels. It was a fluently organised conference with lots of interesting sessions at the VUB. Nice to see that the way of working of OSM and WM is quite similar. Both organisations rely on a vast number of volunteers.
I did like the following subjects:
- Mutual use of OpenStreetMap and Wikipedia/Wikimedia Commons/Wikidata
- Train infrastructure registration (indoor, outdoor)
- Taginfo = statistics and usage of tags https://taginfo.openstreetmap.org
- Wiki site https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Map_Features
- OpenStreetView (Google Streetview like open source project)
- Routing with OpenStreetMap
I believe we could invest in common use of Open data between OpenStreetMap, WikiMedia, and Wikidata.
I believe we would need to make more use of Open data sources… could we not verify how we could collaborate with Public services (Alberto?) => AGIV, PICC
Maarten, could OpenStreetMap and MediaWiki not be a common subject that we could develop together with OKFN (Open Knowledge Foundation)?
