User page

All Wikimedia users can have a private user page in the User namespace of any project. This is a safe place where you can present yourself.

You can keep it simple: "I am a Wikipedian", or you can publish a resume, including links to your (favourite) projects.

Instances

You can do this on several places:

Meta (default user page; automatically shown on all platforms that don't have a local user page)
this platform (Wikimedia affiliates)
Wikipedia (language dependent)
a specific user page on any other Wikimedia platform:
- irrespective of language: Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons
- language dependent: WikiWoordenboek
- technical: MediaWiki

Depending on the platform, you can publish specific content, and choose the language.

You can better create a user page on Meta, and optional dedicated user pages on selected platforms.

Languages

Please add the following code, e.g. {{#Babel:nl|en-5|fr-3|de-1|vls-2|es-1}} to indicate your language knowlegde. So others can choose a "common" language to communiate with you.

Policy

Other users are not allowed to write on your user page. All users have a talk page, like any other page types, where others can communicate with you. For performance reasons, you should archive talk pages, e.g. rename as a subpage once per year. The user namespace can't have categories.

You can have talk pages, even if your user page does not exist.

You can create a hierarchy of subpages, as a working place, for your own pending projects.

You are the owner of all those pages. You can request the removal of any (sub)page in your account, at any time.
