The aim of Wiki Loves Art in Belgium is to collect as many high-quality photographs of works from the collections of Belgian museums and heritage institutions, and to make them available under certain conditions so that these pictures can be used on Wikipedia. For this purpose the photos must meet a number of conditions, these conditions are in the text below.
Step 1: create an account on Wikimedia Commons
- Wikimedia Commons is the photo and media database of Wikipedia and Wikimedia. You can login on Commons with your Wikipedia account.
- If you do not have an account on Wikimedia Commons or Wikipedia, you can create a free account here.
- You must register a valid e-mail address in your account on Wikimedia Commons and enabled to receive e-mails so we can contact you if you have won.
Step 2: upload the photos
- The photos must be uploaded in July and August 2016.
- The uploader of the photos must have made the photos herself/himself.
- The photos must be uploaded under the license Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 (CC BY-SA-4.0).
- The photos must have been tagged properly to identify the organisation where the photo has been taken.
After the contest period all the photos are being reviewed
The staff of Wiki Loves Art will in collaboration with staff from the participating organisations review the photos. Photos that meet the conditions for participation will be reviewed by a jury. The winners can win some attractive prizes.
