Participate in Wiki Loves Art photography contest
For the first year Wikimedia Belgium presents Wiki Loves Art, a one-month photography contest in collaboration with Belgian museums and other organisations in July and August 2016. Based on previous and very successful Wiki Loves Art projects in the US, the UK and the Netherlands, this event invites art lovers and photographers, amateurs and professionals, to take pictures of a selection of artworks in partner museums and institutions and enrich Wikipedia and its online repository of free media files, the Wikimedia Commons, with their pictures.
Special events and activities will be proposed by the museums during the contest period, ranging from free access to the collections, permission to take pictures of specific artworks that cannot be photographed usually, special “backstage” visits and presentations. Specific photo-trainings will also be organised in collaboration with professional photographers.
All the participating images will be uploaded on Wikimedia Commons, one of the biggest online multimedia library, containing over 30 million media files that can be used on Wikipedia and beyond, under a free license.
After the contest period, a jury will select the best pictures, whose authors will receive a prize.
