Yearly grant

The Yearly grant is a simple yearly Chapter grant that is evaluated and granted by the WMF Grants team.

Why edit

The grant is necessary to fund the Affiliate programs, projects, activities, and pay for the administrative and service costs.

How it works edit

Small chapters register a simple yearly grant; large chapters have a more complicated and larger multi-year grant.

Responsibilities edit

The grant process is a shared responsibility amongst the Affiliate and the WMF Grants team. It requires quite a lot of effort, both from the Foundation and the Chapter. It is spread amongst 3 consecutive calendar years (at least 4 + 12 + 2 months). It goes in parallel with the statutory reporting. Since 2022 the grants teams are organised by region.

The Affiliate is responsible for the creating grant request, the execution, and the reporting (both content and financials).
The WMF Program officer is responsible for the review, the approval, and the evaluation of the grant.
The Grants admin team administers the financials.

The chapter implements year by year the affiliate strategy, in respect of the Statutes.
