Royal Library of Belgium

The Royal Library of Belgium (KBR) performs projects together with meemoo, UGent, and Wikimedia Belgium.

Purpose

The purpose of the projects are to upload donated images from the Royal Library of Belgium to Wikimedia Commons, upload the metadata of the collections to Wikidata, and write articles about remarkable artworks on Wikipedia. The reason is to disclose the rich KBR collection to the general public.

The Royal Library of Belgium also takes part in the yearly Public domain day event.

History and background

The Royal Library of Belgium participated in 2016 in the photo contest Wiki Loves Art in Belgium. On 8 March 2017 the Just For The Record edit-a-thon took place in the KBR.
